VITAL TECHNICAL FOUNDATIONS
Firstly, when we say 'it's all on you' we mean the curriculum is based on how much you practice.
We can only progress each week if you have mastered the tasks set in the previous lesson, and you are returning with new questions.
This list is only here to give you an idea of what you will learn. It's by no means set in stone and in any particular order.
If you fail to practice, as much as 'it's ok' its really not! It disables you from progression. Work out life, switch off the TV, spark the decks up - you will not regret it. I promise.
So, to master the art of being a Dj is to lay the blueprint foundations that have been around since the 1970's. This is still relevant of modern DJing.
From hardware signal paths to digital library management in Rekordbox, we ensure your technical setup is bulletproof before you touch the first fader.
Then we will move onto the foundational techniques that are vital to learn first.
BEATMATCHING & PHRASING
The core of the underground sound. We dive deep into ear training, manual tempo matching, and advanced phrasing. Understand the DNA of track structures and how to time your transitions perfectly across 'next track led' sections for a truly seamless flow.
CREATIVE MIXING & FX
Further down the line you will move beyond the basics. Learn to sculpt sound using isolators, filters, and high-end creative effects. We explore how to build tension, create sonic atmospheric layers, and use EQ to surgically blend frequencies for the professional club sound.
LIVE SET PSYCHOLOGY
The final stage: converting skill into performance. Learn the art of reading a room, energy management, and crowd psychology. We prepare you for the physical realities of the DJ booth, technical troubleshooting, and planning the trajectory of a professional club set.
